      Consider this, Apple stands to have an even better result with the fall in input prices. Flash memory is falling like a stone - and who in the world is benefiting from that than Apple??

      If Apple grew laptop sales 28% last month it's obvious Apple products are being treated differently to everything else.

      If your world needs cheering up don't go and buy a Dell or a Nokia, buy an Apple product.

      Why do we always hear this being said: "...provided they will keep paying the very steep Mac premium pricing"??

      It is NOT an appropriate comment at all. Why?

      - Macs ARE priced appropriately for their quality. Why?

      - Apple do not make junk to compete for cheaper equipment. Why?

      - Because the others all fight there - and they have no unique selling points because they depend on Microsoft Windows - which is been discounted due to its poor performance compared to Mac OSX.

      @Channon above. Do a rough and ready calculation for yourself.. iPhones sold are how many? 13m'ish? Revenue per phone is $500'ish? Multiply the two, divide by the 24 months over which revenue recorded and then multiply by the three months of your next quarter...

      And to the poster who mentions Enron above, please, please, read the article again and try to use that brain cell at full power...

      And remember that Apple is fundamentally extremely conservative and risk averse.

      Big thanks to Andy. Hopefully you will help to wake up the dozy world to what is happening here. For most people, including Jobs and team, it is a bit on the side of phenomenal...!

      But it also makes the current APPL price look more and more like a gift.

      In the end, we should all be congratulating and taking our hats off to Steve Jobs and the incredible team at Apple Inc. I certainly am. And in two years time it'll be a salute with vintage Champagne too...

      ..products like OSX, MacBooks, iPhones and iPods. These are what are GENERATING the cash.

      Bit like the adage - give a man meal and you feed him for a day. Teach him to farm and he feeds himself forever...

      Not sure I would have MSFT on that list.

      It will be 7 years before a viable - i.e. non-Vista - OS is available since the last one i.e. XP.

      And even then Windows 7 may be little more than a warmed over Vista.

      - No traction with Search.
      - No traction with Zune.
      - Declining or reversing traction with Xbox.
      - Luke warm response to Office 08. Severely declining prospects for Windows Mobile.
      - HP, Dell etc. looking for Windows alternatives.
      - Massive spending on Brand advertising is backfiring badly.
      - Apple's PC & Mac advertising is severely mauling its core product.

      It will face strong headwinds with a scary, rocky coast waiting to receive it to leeward, it is lucky it has some sea-room.
