Who said the joker was dead-- he's still alive and kickin'! On SA, he goes by the name Peter W. Welcome back, we thought you'd been fired from your job and had lost internet access. Does McDonald's have internet connectivity now?

I understand the sentiments of everyone and respect their feedback.

But I do wonder what people to think of an equity analyst who claims to have a MBA from a top-10 B-school but trolls and steals analyses from SA. Peter, what do you think?

Fanbois, inorder for Apple to really become a volume player it has to rechristen itself as a serious platform. For this it has to
-- focus on creating a h/w ecosystem. No more of the only apple products work with your Macbook thing.
-- develop the s/w ecosystem; attract ISVs over. In today's date, MS and Adobe are the two main ISVs for Mac products and then the long tail starts
-- Apple will have to invest heavily into evangelism. No more of the secret only comes out at Macworld mantra.

My take is Apple traditional strength is a few key vertical experiences-- neat, sexy and thoroughly planned. Will it be able to give up control of the platform and experience if it were to expand? Additionally, can you please tell me which other exec from Apple do people know or have heard of besides SJ? The problem with strong personalities such as SJ is that they often eclipse people under and around them-- this is concerning if a change in guards is in the works.

      Flame on :)

For being an equity analyst, you sure spend way too much time on Seeking Alpha trying to pick up tips from amateur investors. You must be soooo good at what you do and I'm sure your MBA taught you how to do that. There are 2 common ways to do DCF analysis
      Equity-Approach
      -Flows to equity approach (FTE)
      Entity-Approach:
      -Adjusted present value approach (APV)
-Weighted average cost of capital approach (WACC)
      -Total cash flow approach (TCF)
They all compute intrinsic values. Then there's the famous Graham method to compute these values-- this is commonly known as intrinsic value or Graham intrinsic value. I use a variant of GIV and TCF. That's all you need to know, Mr investor.

Well, I think you understand this now. See, you learn something new everyday on SA. Sure makes up for what you didn't learn at school.

Oil price increases> energy increases> operating cost for mines increases> eats into margins>mining companies try to get more out of less> machinery upgrade cycle prolonged> BUCY hurt.

Exploring, discovering, setting up infra-structure of new mines is not as simple or fast or cheap, so they don't pop up immediately

Investor 911, I'm not here to promote any stock. If you visit my blog (from where this article is auto-consumed) you'll know why I share what I share. My blog's at stockerati.com

This is just my analysis that I share out to like-minded investors who follow my blog and share my philosophies. You can use it as a data-point to make a more informed decision or choose to ignore it-- your prerogative.

If you've any feedback or discussion you'd like to participate or drive on basis of this article, I'm all for it. I'm fortunate enough to witness a lot of it on some of my other posts.

      Thanks

      AZZ Inc.: Not Entirely Shocking
      User, good questions

      1) AZZ bubbled to the top-4 based on one of my multiple screening heuristics, and that's why it got called out as a stock that has done exceptionally in the downturn. It piqued my attention and if you read the article again, you'll notice that I do mention in that post that I need to analyze them further to decide if I'm going in or staying put. I analyzed it and though the recent numbers look good, I'm not very excited about its future potential for reasons outlined in this article. Hence I just added it to my personal watch-list. You should ofcourse make your decision and use your own analysis and judgement. This article just reflects my point of view and my action with this stock.
      2) I use Reuters, Barrons and Morningstar for these key ratios. I trust these over Yahoo. Check out www.reuters.com/financ... to see how I got that data

Keep these comments coming. It keeps me real and helps me to think critically. In the end, it helps me just get better.

      Appreciate it, user!

Peter, you can learn about basic investing from investopedia. You have good questions which are answered in the 101 tutorial there. If you do know what you claim to, do author an article that backs your demands. I use my proprietary method to evaluate the stocks for MY portfolio. Use your judgement or use the basic investing tools out there to do your own analysis. I'm here to share data and not to teach how to evaluate stocks. You, unfortunately, my friend are perceived as a heckler even if that's not what you intend to do. Let's see some action beyond talk from you-- author an article and show us that you really know what you claim to know.

All I can tell about my methods is that it's a variant of intrinsic value and DCF analysis. It may be beyond you to understand that. Be a real critique and it'll be definitely appreciated. But I'm beginning to feel that's too much to ask of you

Paul's assessment is quite in line with mine and I was surprised by their super-low D/E ratio-- definitely can be higher.

Use your own judgement to decide though.

Peter, I was beginning to miss your delightful commentary. Thanks for your support :)

The fact that you read all my articles (despite always claiming they are not useful to you) all the time, is fantastic to see.

FWIW, if you'd understood the article you won't be asking this question. Maybe, a second read?

EE, my picks are specifically designed for my investing style. I share my analysis and numbers with the community along with my personal decision. Make sure to check if this matches your style or the numbers line with your expectations and the company's risk-reward profile suits you before you act on articles like this here or anywhere else. I'd do that myself and I recommend everyone does that too.
